![]() Synced on the Aura ONE which does have the OD library and the book downloaded.Synced on the Clara HD which doesn't have a OD library setup and the book didn't download. This was discussed a while ago and I think that was the conclusion made. The reason for this thinking is that if you have multiple devices, and only one is signed into OD, then it has to sync the OD books before the other devices see books borrowed using Libby. Does Overdrive tell Kobo whenever you borrow a book? Or, when you sync, does Kobo ask if there are any books for the account and library? I think it is more likely the latter. I don't know if Kobo knows about the other library attached to your Overdrive account. It should fix a problem like this.īut, I have feeling that this is working as designed. It clears the purchased book details and redownloads them. This was added for issues with downloading books. If it said it was downloading the book and it didn't appear, then you could try the account repair on the Device Information page of the settings. The new books usually appear first when sorted by "Recent", so it should be visible. I’m beginning to suspect it’s a problem with the library’s database.ĭid it say what the other book was? The sync dialog should show the book title when it is being synced, but, you have to be watching it. When I borrowed another book last night, the status said downloading 1 of 2 books, but the second book, the one I’m taking about here, didn’t download. Matching ISBNs.īTW, when browsing the Kobo store from my KA1, it gives me the option to put the book on hold, so Kobo and Overdrive are communicating, but the library I’m borrowing from isn’t my main library. Kobo has told me that they have no plans to discontinue Overdrive anytime soon, since it is a major selling point for people to buy their book readers. The editions are the same. So just to be clear, Kobo e-readers will continue to use Overdrive library borrowing on their Kobo’s for the foreseeable future. After all, most people just get their payment receipts sent to their email address and don’t even get physical paper anymore. This is way better than visiting your branch, with a few bills and getting a card the old fashioned way. What I like about the Libby app is being able to apply for a library card, right in the app. In the meantime, Kindle Fire users can stream ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines in their browser from OverDrive has requested information and a timeline for approval from Amazon but has not yet received an update. Libby is not currently available to download from the Amazon Appstore. It has a better audiobook, ebook and magazine experience. Overdrive is encouraging users to upgrade to Libby, which is the new app they launched a couple of years ago. ![]() ![]() Existing users who have the app will be able to use it, until the end of the year and then all of the services will be shut off. It is no longer listed on Google Play the Apple App Store. In March, Overdrive discontinued their main Overdrive Media Console app for Android and iOS. Many Kobo users have been very concerned about their Kobo losing the ability to download books on their e-reader, from Overdrive. The switch from Overdrive to Libby will not affect Kobo e-readers, since Kobo is using an API to fetch book listings, cover art and facilitate the download of books directly to your Kobo. Overdrive announced that it was discontinuing their app, which is old and clunky, and instead switching everyone to Libby, which is their latest generation app. This is done through Overdrive, which is the largest digital distributor that power libraries digital collections. One of the big advantages of a Kobo e-reader is being able to attach your library card in the settings menu and unlock a new UI entry for your local library branch.
